A Theology of Gardening - Murray Lambert
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)
The prophet Jeremiah writes these words to a nation in the middle of exile. As refugees of war, living in a foreign land where they're treated as second-class citizens, God tells them to “5 Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce."
Why is God telling Israel to plant gardens of all things in the midst of exile?
