A Reminder; Hope Revisited - Brian Codrington

"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour" -Isaiah 61:1-2

God Hates Figs? - Murray Lambert

"The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it." - Mark 11:12-14 
 
What's going on here? Does God just hate figs? Or do fig leaves symbolise something greater in God's story?
